Cali snagged eight out of 20 spots on Forbes 2014 list of America’s Coolest Cities. For all you mathematicians out there, this means that California contains 40% of the hippest metros in the U.S. Cities were ranked on arts and culture, recreation, diversity, local eats, population of ages 20-34, and net migration.
So which cities graced the top 20?
San Francisco topped the list at #5, San Diego ranked #6, Riverside reserved the 8th spot, Oakland came in at #12, Sacramento was rated #14, San Jose and Los Angeles tied for the 16th position, and Santa Ana squeezed into #20.
Now, just how much does it cost to buy a home in one of the trendiest cities in the state? Well, average home prices in June ranged from $321,840 in Riverside to $433,950 in Los Angeles to $531,350 in San Diego—all the way up to $987,500 in San Francisco. One area that didn’t make the list (but is just as cool in its own right) is Orange County—where the average home price was $696,680 in June.
Regardless of whether or not you live in one of these areas, it’s still pretty spectacular to know that California has nearly half of the coolest cities in America!
